1st blog post in forever! Man, it felt so good to see the admin dashboard on my screen again.
Well – the reason I’ve been so absent these past few months is the same reason I was this time last year . . . we moved. . . . (again).
We’re almost positive the ringing in our ears is caused by the screeching halt of our ‘moving’ gears. We’re crazy spent.
I so miss the beauty and the bigness of those 5 acres. It was a gorgeous piece of land. While I don’t want to get into everything on a public forum, I’ll share the more personal reasons we decided to head back to ATX. It wasn’t financial (renting in Austin’s a bit more expensive than owning in a county over), and it wasn’t that we didn’t like homesteading – we were mostly dabbling, but I found I did enjoy it.

Last night was one of those spontaneous amazingly wonderful soak-it-all-up nights and I wanted to make sure to document it for review on one of the less stellar nights ::
The weather was perfect: fresh, awakening breezes; light rain on and off; cool, but still plenty warm. We were hoping to sow some ground cover or at least prepare the ground, but decided to enjoy the weather instead of fight the rain.

I was standing at the library’s front desk, applying for a card and waiting to checkout books for Autumn and Nate. I turned and saw Nate strolling towards me (Autumn under one arm, facing outward with legs dangling) with that familiar slight-smile on his face: o boy, what’s he up to?
“I got this book for you. I think you’ll like it.” Says the man who more often than not worries he doesn’t know what I really like and that I’ll just say “thank you” for so I won’t hurt his feelings.
I read the title. The Dirty Life? Hmmm. . . .
I open to the inserts. Now I’m the one smiling.
